. I do not think that the conflict between the mother and Jing-Mei resolved towards the end of the story. It is because there was a generation gap between the mother and daughter and this generation gap is the reason behind the different thinking of the individuals. Till the end of the story, Jing-Mei was struggling to understand her origin and the area of her specification. She was in dilemma till the end. She had a long-lasting conflict with her mother but she cannot reject her mother because by rejecting her mother, she will reject her identity. He could not find the place where she actually belonged to because originally they were China but here mother never lamented what they have left in China. Her mother felt very comfortable in America and the case of daughter was completely different. The conflicts between immigrant parents and children were never resolved. Jing never wanted to be the way her mother wanted and the conflict continues.
